Big Bash for Social Media Addicts!

28 December 2012

Social media fanatics were treated to an extravagant bash of fashion, music and games at the recently held #ChurpOut2012 by local social media community, ChurpChurp.

#ChurpOut2012 marked the departure from previous "ChurpOuts", which were more intimate gatherings of ChurpChurp members, and showcased the best of local acts, top social media influencers, celebrities, fashion and YouTube stars.

“We wanted to create an environment where social media users could connect with one another, and enjoy themselves too. We made sure #ChurpOut2012 had a bit of everything with a marketplace for social media users, fashionistas and shoppers, a stage to captivate music lovers and artists, an inspiration corner for aspiring volunteers and those in need of inspiration, and of course an area for games where everyone can have a blast and walk home with cool prizes!” said Timothy Tiah, Co-founder of ChurpChurp.

The event saw thousands throng Publika Boulevard and Square for a day of wild fun ... all in the name of charity of course.

“The response towards this was very encouraging! The idea behind this initiative was to educate and remind women about taking the necessary measures for breast cancer prevention during the Pink Ribbon month especially through influential personalities and social media users, and at the same time garner support and raise funds for charity,” said Michelle Teh, the ChurpChurp Manager.

The attendees, or social influencers as ChurpChurp calls them, had the privilege of picking the Breast Cancer Awareness society they would like to help, when they made purchases from online fashin icons such as Sazzy Falak, Joyce Wong, Hanis Zalikha, Maria Elena and Audrey a.k.a. Fourfeetnine who set up shops at the event. Part of each sale went to the various societies.
