2014 PromaxBDA Asia Awards Windfall For Viacom

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) has won 17 awards at the recently conducted 2014 PromaxBDA Asia Awards in Singapore.

VIMN, a division of Viacom Inc., received the majority of its awards for its programming in the Indian market where it operates through Viacom 18 – Viacom’s joint venture with the Network18 Group. It racked up 8 gold and 6 silver awards through Viacom 18, while winning an additional 3 awards for its transmissions from the rest of Asia.

The three awards for VIMN in the Asian market include a gold award for Comedy Central Asia’s Happy Valentine's Day (Best Holiday/Seasonal Promo Category), and two silver awards for MTV Asia’s Future Music Festival Asia Contest (Best Interactive Promo Category) and MTV April Fool's Day Ident (Most Daring Spot Never Seen Category).

In the Malaysian market, Astro won two silver awards for BPL’s ‘How Do You Define’ (Best Sports Promo Category) and ‘Barclays Premier League’ (Best Sports Campaign Category).

“Creativity is hard work. It’s even harder as the world is constantly evolving. With the introduction of new species such as smart TV, second screens and web-based technology, how are we going to evolve our campaigns to reach our audience in an integrated, innovative and awe-inspiring manner?” James Chung, Conference Co-Chair PromaxBDA Asia 2014 had stated on the Promax Asia website in the lead up to the event.

Chung said connecting with a global community of professionals and listening to them while they share their experiences would help prepare participants for “the next phase of creative evolution”.

The PromaxBDA Awards are given out in recognition of achieving excellence in on-air promotions, branding and advertising on programming, media channels or brand platforms. The Awards invited entries from satellite, cable, broadcast/television, radio and associated new media, their agencies and production houses.

VIMN owns a number of popular broadcasting networks and entertainment brands such as MTV, MTV LIVE HD, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Comedy Central, Paramount Channel, among others. Apart from having the rights to broadcast many of VIMN networks in India and operating services such as Vh1, CNBC TV18, CNBC Awaaz, Newswire18, moneycontrol.com, CNN-IBN, and IBN 7 in the country, Viacom 18’s core market interests include internet, filmed entertainment and mobile content.

Viacom network is spread across 170 countries, reaching over 3.2 billion households globally via its locally programmed TV channels and digital media entities.
